I've been playing with the idea of trying to incorporate small strips of abalone shell into my blanks and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some.

Thanks,
Garrett

I like what Louie came up with best depending on the thickness. The other stuff is quite brittle and very hard to cut without chipping and looking like crud.

As you can see there are several different types of shell you can get depending on your application. The flex pearl from mud hole is good if you are wrapping cylinders. No I dont use this in my blanks. It is a new product that has been on the market less than a year. The stuff from stewmac and duke of pearl is a lot thicker. Thin lam is .012 and reg pearl is.040. All of it is true abalone it just the different process cutting the shell.
