I think you would have find somebody in Monterey. I think the tree is protected and might have tree huggers living in them. I am not sure but I think they grow just on the coast and in a small area. Perhaps we have a member in Monterey that will help you. I would love to get ahold of some Bristle Cone Pine from Eastern CA but you can't even pick up a dead branch These trees are way over 5K years old and only live in one place 11,000 feet up in the White Mountains.

Hi Lou: This person sells Cypress on Craig's List in the SF Bay area: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/for/799962303.html It's kind of a junk wood here in CA. The only protected one I know of is the Lone Cypress in Pebble Beach.

Is the "Lone Cypress" still alive? The last time I saw it was in about 1973 when I was in Carmel for a Friends of Photography workshop. It was being held up by steel cables and looked about half dead.
