Looks like a great blade - do you do much resaw work. If not it is probably overkill. I picked up a carbide tipped bandsaw blade at my local saw shop for around $55.

Formy money I get Timberwolf blades from Suffolk machinery. The blades are great, the service is great, and the prices are even better. I've not purchased blades anywhere else for 6 years now. Here is the website: http://suffolkmachinery.com/ You must call to order. Tell the lady who answers the phone your saw info, what you want to do (resaw, penblanks, etc) and she will know what blade you need. They even have a free blade when you buy 3.
Do a good turn daily!
Don

This is the things I need to know!!! Thanks!!!

Is this a clue as to how you made the blanks in your other post?

No I just noticed my stock blades suck. Plus funny my band saw is my favorite saw in the shop and the only saw I did not junk out the tick blade for a nice blade. I am not happy with the proformance. I was just gifted 2 family walnut trees if I can take them down and with that said I am getting organized to resaw them up after they get milled for me and all. That won't be until after springtime though.

Go to SawMillCreek and sign up. Then go to the turning forum and find the Laguna Carbide resaw blade sales (3/4" and 1") for $75. $250 blades for $75. Woohoo.

If you've got a 14" bandsaw you really don't need to spend a lot of money on good blades. I've got a 20" Delta that we only paid $20 and change for and got them through Woodworkers Supply. Where you need to spend the time is tuning the saw and you won't believe what a difference that makes. We installed new tires plus Carter guides and then trued the tires once they were on the machine and my blades get used hard. I will tell you that you don't want to cut caarbon fiber with it unless you are ready to change out the blade! DAMHIKT! The blade that's on it now has been on there since June of '09. The most versatile I've found is 1/2"x4tpi skip tooth.

Hope my $.02 helps.

Tom

These are the only woodworking band saw blades I will use on my saw http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/woodslicer12resawbandsawblades705to137.aspx .
They make my HF 14" (w/riser) band saw cut like a saw costing much more and they are not expensive . I use my band saw for slicing veneer paper thin .
Use the money you save on blades for better guides (carters are the best) and a good fence set up and a incra miter w/fence and you will have a setup that will do anything you ask of it .
They also stay sharp for a long time , almost as long as a carbide tipped blade that I paid over $100 for .
They also have one of the thinest kerfs of any resaw blade .
They have gotten rave reviews in a couple of woodworking magazines . IIRC , Fine woodworking and Popular Woodworking both gave them their highest ratings .

Well I'm not sure everything is stock here and I am noticeing that the bland is turning and bending a lot now... It didn't see to do this when I got it a few years ago.

One thing to think about-------hit a nail---a screw---a rock----wire---glass---and it will turn any blade into a metal band that will no longer cut.
I do agree with the folks who said you want a 1/2 inch blade for your saw----and set up is everything.

Ok so even though the specs say 99 3/4 I can put a 99 1/2 on my saw? And the set up does that mean a full tune up or what? the saw is about 4 years old and and in great condition minus crazy new bend I seem to get when cutting.

Why not put a 99 3/4 on the saw????????you can get any size band you want
Keeping the blade running correctly is what you want-----the turn up kit you posted will make that a lot easier to do.

OK we posted same time missed your 2nd post. If I understand this right.

1. I get Tune up kit.

2. switch to a 1/2 blade adn ditch my 3/4 blade

3. Do I need new fencing and anything else like that?

4. follow directions set it up and than play with a bunch of scrap wood to tune just right?

I plan on doing a lot of cutting in the next year. I feel so dumb I all by myself buaght that saw and torn it a part in the truck and almost killed myself putting it all together lifting heavy parts into the shop and assembled all alone it is heavy too.

Karin if your saw was working fine and then kind of quit it may just be your blade. Before spending a lot of money on a tune up kit I would buy a new blade, adjust all the little things, (guides ,tires, etc) and then see how it cuts. If it isnt better then get the extra parts. Usually when mine starts acting up it just wants a new blade. Good luck!

A good book at the library on bandsaws and adjustments and an evening are a good combination -- there are 3-4 out there.

there are generally 3 grade/style of bandsaw blades -- carbon steel in several different variations (impulse hardened, hardened, etc --) Olson, Lenox, Bhanco (Timberwolf) etc. 7-20 bucks Highland sells a specialty form of this blade for resawing.

This is the cheap blade for cutting dirty rocky nasty stuff that will trash a blade because it is cheap and expendable. Most of mine are cheap impulse hardened bulk buy at about $6 each to $ 12 each including shipping to the end of the earth.

There are bimetalic blades that use high speed steel for the teeth welded onto carbon steel (welded strip and the teeth are ground) These are metal cutting blades that handle nails, brass, plastics, corian, but not rocks!! rocks will trash the teeth. I resharpen these and with care they run for months to years. this one will cut snakewood that was stripping the teeth off a hand saw (17 point cross cut pull blade) Just got 4 105 inch blades for under $40 delivered. I like 1/4 and 3/8 - and cut circles.

Carbide tip blades -- 55-150 bucks This is the high volume resaw blade that will cut for hours on end -- resharpenable but really really do not like rocks or metal or glass

One rock wipes out the blade!!! change time. Sounds like you hit something bad for the blade --
