To be sure I am answering your question, could you be a little more specific about what you don't get? Is it clicks in general? Is it the style? You ask if the mech is better, but the question is compared to what?

I guess it's a matter of preference. I really like them. I have 2 that I use on a regular basis, and the ones that I've given to friends & family have been well received. At 1st I didn't care for the look. They looked to plain. But you can really change the look by doing a custom fake centerband, or some segmenting.
Here area few that I did.
People that don't work at a desk really seem to prefer click pens. So there is a real interest in finding something that's built well.
