Hey guys working on getting a few pens up on the website for sale, and want to Locktite the threads on some styles so they feel solid and don't unscrew effortlessly. Grabbed some blue Locktite today and have a question before getting started. For example let's go with a jr gent 1 rollerball, threads together right behind the nib, again into the nib coupler and then again on the end. You can change the refill from both ends, so if we Locktite the nib and nib coupler you would have to change the refill from the back end. Seems like a better option as to not interfere with the spring? Just throwing it out there for advice and to make sure this seems like a good option to make a nice solidly constructed pen. Thanks guys!

Just a thought-Most people intuitively change the refill by separating the nib from the barrel, not the finial from the barrel.

I have seriously considered loc tight on the finial of the JRGent IIs because mine always seem to get loose while in my shirt pocket. I have not had a problem with the nib section coming loose. JMO though

Just think it's unnecessary and a waste of time, but just my $.02 man. Do what makes you happy.

I hear you... Not a waste of much time at all and they seem to unscrew sometimes in the pocket and the last thing I want is for someone to have to keep screwing it back together. I went ahead and started with my personal pen to see what works the best... May not be necessary but it may ease my mind to simplicity, longevity, and ease of use. Thanks for the time guys!

:eek: A lot of people don't know how to change a refill or ink cartrage on a pen. The idea is to show them at the point of sale how easy it is to do. If I have a pen that keeps comming loose, I put a very small dot of CA on the threads and let it dry. This will tighten up the joint, yet still allow you to unscrew the pen. I also do this on slip fits that wear over time. Jim S
