I have been turning pens long enough that my turning tools need more than a touch up with my diamond tool sharpeners. I have looked at an 8" variable speed Grinder at Lowe's that would need to change out the wheels for wheels more suitable for HSS tools. Also considered other brands at Lowe's and Home Depot. Then I found an introductory offer of a low speed Rikon at Woodcraft for $100 dollars (reg. $140) that already has white aluminum oxide wheels. It seems like a super deal but there are no reviews on it. Anyone have comments on this deal? I intend to make my jigs.

Have the previous "no name" half speed grinder...

Have that previous woodcraft half speed grinder. One failed on me, bad switch about a week out of the box. They replaced it, other has run flawlessly ever since. Of course it's used little now that I have a Tormek.
Still want to retain it for reshaping. Tormek for final grinding and honing.

so jealous of those who live near a woodcraft... can't find a deal like that anywhere around here. $140 for the grinder and then $100 at least for the stones.
