lilac

Any tips on turning it? I scored a nice bit of lilac that has beautiful purple swirls and figure( at least in the end grain)

It is a great wood to turn but there is quite a bit of difference in hardness between the sapwood and the heartwood. The bonus is that it has a great scent so it makes your shop smell nice for a short period of time.

make sure its dry. i realize that goes without saying but i did a couple lilac pens and one cracked and i know it wasn't dry enough. other than that it turns nice.
