I found that the most difficult part was cutting the Lignum into blanks on the bandsaw.Nice. The muted green adds but doesn't overwhelm the metal. Like the separators, too.
My grandson mad a pen for his father. LV was like drilling tool steel!
What was the source of the Lignum that cracked?I really like Lignum Vitae too, but it seems like everything I have ever made from it develops a crack over time. For me it just adds character, since I know the history of the wood, but I'm sure others don't really see it that way. - Dave
My Lignum Vitae is kind of one of those woods with a story. It was cut from propeller shaft bushings that came out of a decommissioned ocean liner, the MV Doulos Phos. When it was decommissioned it held the record of being the world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship serving from 1914 to 2009. It is now dry docked and has been converted into a luxury hotel in Indonesia. - DaveWhat was the source of the Lignum that cracked?
Mine came from a lawn bowl which was probably 50 years of age.
I'm hoping that mine doesnt crack.
I know that a couple of bowls that I cut up in the past had some fissures, but this last one was very clean.
