My first Liberty pen from McKenzie Penworks. The blank is a DiamondCast from Turners Warehouse called Copperline. Very happy with it, although I don't know why the refill tip doesn't protrude farther. I polished it with my usual regimen: 220-600 wet; 3M Zona wet; Meguiar's 105, 205, and #9 polishes. I didn't paint the blank, it's opaque.

I see these shape springs all the time in kits. We talk about many times having the small end toward the refill. It could cause problems if not. Maybe your case too. If you can push the refill through the hole further and no obstructions maybe just increase tension on spring or you may have to shorten the tube for future ones. But with that said I also seen other kits where that amount of refill sticks out on them too.

I agree with JT . . . check the orientation of the spring . . . reversing it MIGHT allow the refill to protrude a little bit more.

Nice looking pen !!! . . . Haven't seen a Liberty for quite a while !!!

That was the spring that my Liberty kits came with back when Constant was making/selling them. I think I inserted it with the wide end toward the point. Don't know why.
