I had posted photos of three pens I had made for my grandsons. One had the baseball blank upside down. Chatted with a fellow at the local Woodcraft store. He gave me some tips on using the transfer punches; mainly, getting the size closest to the ID. OK, I got the blank off but discovered that it's not reversible. One end is smooth for the clip end and the other is threaded for the nib. So, it pays to look at the orientation of a blank before assembly.

Everything is glued up. The other end has the tube which is smooth to insert the cap/clip assembly. I'm not going to take a chance on breaking the blank or messing up something else. I agree with graffiti I saw in an office: Compared to me, Murphy was an optimist.

Unless you glued in the threaded end take it apart or hide it in a drawer. Many times you can thread the end on and use it to pull it apart.
