How did it turn?? reason I ask if i've got some unknown Indian ( I think ) hardwood that I'm trying to identify and it .ooks similar.

Other than being crosscut it wasnt that hard to turn but I use carbide. What I did notice when I drilled a pilot hole it was almost burning/smoky

Because you have three pictures showing different sides of your pen then what you have shown is good on the eye.
If you just showed one picture then another prop would not distract. My opinion and I hope that it makes sense.
