Will Leopard wood crack like Snake wood? I was thinking of buying some and I've heard the horror stories of Snake wood cracking months after it was turned, and it looks a lot like Snake wood
I've made several pens out of Leapord and they haven't cracked yet. A couple have been slow selling so I've had them in my case for more than a year, they still look fine. Also I can't remember ever having heard Leapord mentioned in conversations about which woods tend to crack.
Ken, I have several leopard wood blanks 3/4x3/4x5 or 6" if you are interested, I can send you a couple to try...I bought a board and cut it down to blanks, I have straight and quarter sawn
No they won't crack. Leopard wood behaves like lacewood (and at times is actually the same thing) which doesn't have anything in common with snakewood.
