Ron ... I haven't dealt with them personally ... yet. But, I have heard very good things about them. As a matter of fact, I'm hoping to take a ride up there sometime over the next month to look around.
 
They are a good source of Aussie burls (and now other woods too) and do have good feedback and reputation last I heard.

That said, I think Nolan have better prices (and guarantee) now ;)
 
They were supposed to be one of the sponsors for the birthday bash... However , if you recall recently there was a person who hadn't received their prize for the birthday bash...Lee Tree Woodworks was the supplier...

After a few emails, Lee Tree had not responded. I still have had no response from them. SO until that is resolved, I won't have anything to do with that company.

Lee Tanenbaum owned the company up until about a year ago. He was great to deal with. He sold the business and I have no experience with the new owner yet.
 
I have been dealing with them for a while now and have never had a problem. The new owner is Scott and he has always taken good care of me. Their prices are reasonable on some stuff, but they are not great at updating their website to show what is already sold and what is still in stock.

I heard there was a change of ownership, I've dealt with Lee but not Scott.

I have a customer who likes to pick out her burls before I turn them for her. She was supposed to show up today but had to cancel. I didn't see any big burl caps on Nolan's site, but now Johnnie says Scott site isn't kept up to date.

I need to come up with plan "B"
 
The new owner moved the shop to Decatur GA and is about a mile from my house. I have been by several times and have talked with him and he seems to be a nice guy. His wood is really nice. As for the non-response for the birthday bash issue, I'm sure there is a communication issue based on my experience with the new owner.

I dealt with them when Lee owned it and recently bought some wood that Nolan doesn't have. Let me just say that the photos on the website are not very representative of what you receive. They did make good on it, but I will stick with Nolan in the future. Maybe they're better about burl caps than pen blanks.

i got burl big enough to fill a full size pickup. LOL no really i have some up to 200 lbs.:D

I have purchased from Lee and Steven Potts (new owner) several times over the last couple of years and I have never had a problem with service or product. Honest, good business to work with. Always has really nice woods and very reasonable prices.

This business is located near the Stone Mountain area and about three miles from my home. On Saturday I had the pleasure of going to visit with Mark Sillay who unknown to me shares an office space with another business, Lee Tree Woodworks.

Man, what a selection of Australian woods these two concerns have. Everything from pen blanks to large tabletops. Everything is inside and sorted by species and labeled. A main walkway down the shop separates the two businesses from each other.

I guess it would take a few tractor trailer loads to move the woods if it ever became necessary ... and quite a few man hours of labor.

From talking with Mr. Sillay I feel that if anyone is having any problems that they should call, e-mail, whatever and the problem will be settled to everyones liking. He answered every one of my questions professionally and I left having met a new friend.

I'm sorry to have not met anyone from Lee Tree, but IMHO they would have to be as enjoyable as Mr. Sillay is to share the same office spaces.

Monday - 4:45 p.m. - I just this moment spoke with Mr. Sillay and he wanted me to make sure that everyone knows that he and Lee Tree Works are completely separate and that if anyone needs anything settled they definitely should call Steve Potts at the number I have posted. Mr. Sillay says that there were numerous problems PRIOR to Steve Potts buying Lee Tree, and that Steve will work with anyone to settle any problem(s).


I'll stick my head in the fire and will volunteer to go over there if anyone wants me to help out. (I feel that comfortable after seeing what is available from these folks.) Just let me know! My e-mail is in my profile section...
