Anyone have a new LED tv? I just bought one (my first non-tube TV), and I think it's going right back to the store.

I have good eyes, and I'm rather light sensitive, and I have the most severe eye strain at hte moment, and a large headache building. I've turned down the settings by at least half.

Is this something that you get used to? I'm thinking of going back to the old tube TV...

Had ours for a couple, three years and have never had any issues like you have. Turn the brightness and contrast down some more or watch better shows. ;)

Sent from my iPhone using Forum Runner because I can't reach my desktop!

I have a lg led 3d tv.

How big of area is it in and what size of tv is it?

Mine when we first got it we had a problem with what is called " The Soap Opera effect"
Everything we watched looked like the same camera recordings that daytime soaps where recorded in.

When we watch 3dtv I get eye strain from watching 3d to much. I take the glasses off where a few mins and go back to watching for awhile longer.

also Google your problem with your tv model and you may find some answer and fixes for your tv.

If it is in HD and you don't have the HD box that could be your problem. Give the cable co a call to determine the HD settings or box needed. Makes a huge difference.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Using the THX optimizer from the Star Wars DVD really helped (a tip I received via PM), but we've discovered that we're just too young for a monstrous TV - our eyes are too good! :)

The TV's just too big for the house, and it cost mroe than we wanted to spend to boot, so it's going back to the store, and we'll save our money for more worthwhile expenditures (like mortgage and student loan payments!) :)

Yea, we can't use over a 65 incher ourselves....we did get Plasma though. The LED are said to be brighter and need to be "tuned" more to the environment. Of course it has been more than 20 years since we went to a big screen. But we've had big rooms to watch in so we've been a way back.

I bought a new Sony bravia 40" Led tv last year, and I have had the same problem.

I had a regular lcd tv prior to that and it didn't bother my eyes at all.

The reason I bought the led, was just because it was a little thinner, and I wanted an extra tv for my guest room.

overall I can't watch it because of the same reason. I wish I would have never bought it :(

I usually buy into the 'never buy a brand new technology' idea, but the salesman sold us on it. It's the Sony Bravia as well - WAY too bright. I just liked the idea that it was about a half inch thick.

Maybe the regular LCD would be fine, but I'm gun-shy about it now - the old TV still works fine, so I'll go back to that.

Good thing I saved the packaging - the tv's going back tomorrow.

I have 4 LCDs, 1 LED, and 1 Plasma TV in the house and out of the 3 I prefer the plasma for watching anything longer than the weather.

I have owned an LED TV for more than 18 months. I have found two things can affect the picture quality--your distance from the TV and the ambient lighting in the room. I haven't found mine to be too bright, and there are adjustments for that. But if I sit too close, the picture can be too harsh, whether that is too bright or just not as much contrast, I don't know. Shows from Discovery Channel or History Channel look better on my TV if I turn down the rest of the lighting in the room. Incidentally mine is a 22" Samsung, which I have in my home office.
