Lathe spindle cleaning

I am looking for a effective and not expensive way to clean my headstock and tail stock spindles. I heard there is a green type of tool but have not found it.

I searched this site but didn't find anything, so sorry if this has been discussed before.

It's called the taper mate. you can get it for around $15 lee valley has them

Taper Mate sold either MT-1 or MT-2 size.

Bought one years ago, and it works okay. Have no idea how to remove black marks from taper mate.

Like most folks get more use out of shotgun bore brush & cleaning rod, and shop vac. Think can still find cleaning rods & brushes sold without buying entire cleaning kit just about anywhere.
