Everyone might remember that I was having some problems with my lathe and posted htis thread, about the knocking knees sound:

Well lanman was kind enough to come over and look at it for me and seems to have fixed the problem. I had replaced the belt and lubricated it like the Jet people told me to do when I called them, but it was still making a noise and doing the sticking thing when I turned the handwheel. He did some research and found a potential problem, which definitely was a problem when he looked at my lathe. The set screws on the motor pulley came loose which allowed the pulley to slide up against the motor housing. He fixed the problem by pulling the motor pulley away from the motor housing by hand- since the pulleys are made of cast zinc they can break if you start prying on them with a screw driver (sounds pretty impressive of me, but I'm quoting Dave here...). So he tightened the set screws and now the noise level seems to be back to normal and the handwheel turns smoothly.
So if anyone else has a similar problem, you might want to check that.
Also, a big public thanks to lanman for being so kind as to help out a fellow IAP member!
