Hi Mike, do you make the metal work on these cogs too?
And is the tradition restricted to the Orkneys or is it common all over God's country? (Scotland.....for those that don't know I love the country)

Thanks for your interest.
The bands start off as flat brass which i put through a home made roller to give the taper, then it is joined using brass rivvets, a similar process as barrel making.
This is only an Orcadian tradition but you wouldnt think so when you realise that in the last 2 years i have sent cogs all over the world.
