Laser Blank Turning

I am turning a Piano Laser blank for a wedding gift. What confounds me is how to finish turning the top portion with the piano key inlay. They say not to sand it. They say to turn it with a skew. I can just see, as sharp as I can make it, the skew grabbng the parts and yanking them out of the blank.

What can you suggest, so that I do not ruin this blank.

I have done them before with a skew... you just a have to soak it in Thin CA all over the area where the keys are. Worked for me... YMMV

If in doubt with a skew, a negative rake shear scraper works (a bit slowly) every time and will give a super clean surface.

I will presume you know what a negative rake shear scraper is and how it works.

Duh !!!????? Sorry, Ken, you are leagues over my head on this one. All I did was sharpen the skew with leather so that it would cut hair off my arm. I want to know what you are talking about, however. Please,
