I have a 40w Chinese laser- the blue and white one! I have had it for about 4 years and have had Zero trouble with it except I noticed about two years ago I had trouble engraving antler - simply would not cut deep enough. Would and acrylics no problem. Now I am having trouble engraving anything but soft wood. I just did a piece of trustone and it didn't even scratch the surface. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The most likely causes are:
  1. Dirty or misaligned mirrors,
  2. Dirty or damaged lens, and
  3. Tube is giving out.
I have a 60W laser engraver, and (over the years) have replaced all of the above (tube and lens multiple times), as well as the transformer, exhaust blower, and water chiller.

I hope that helps,
Eric

Thanks Eric,
Alignment seem good- mirrors are probably dirty but of those are the 3 biggest options I would probably go with the tube! Will clean mirrors and check alignment and see if I can find someplace to buy a tube!
