As an IAP member, I'm probably biased, but when I look at the LAMY 2000 blackwood body ballpoint below, I just can't see why anyone would pay $100 for it. Obviously it's a very respected brand and probably a good pen, but for $100, I feel like a handturned pen with a quality kit would be just as good if not better (and maybe even less expensive). Or is the LAMY hardware really that much better than a quality pen kit's hardware?

I am definitely biased toward hand made pens. I doubt many here are not. That seems expensive for a mass produced pen, and it takes proprietary refills. Or, at least, not any standard refill.
