Lamp and Bowl

This is some very wormy mesquite,I really enjoy making lamps and bowls for a change of pace,a few more then it's back to making pens.

that is a good looking set bill. do you drill a hole for the lamp mechanism prior to turning?

Andrew,no,I turn it down to size then sand between centers, drill the 3/8" hole through it (very carefully)for a piece of all thread rod that fits the lamp hardware,hope this helps.

They look dang nice ... what are the dimensions of the lamp? And, what finish do you have on it? BTW, the finial is an especially nice touch!

Doc,sorry I did'nt measure this one but the lamp is about 16" tall and the base is about 5",finished with spray can lacquer,the bowl is a little bigger than the lamp,thanks for the comments.

I havnt made a lamp yet but bought the stuff for it about a year ago (dont want to rush in to anything)
