know when to stop??

I saw something like this from a member or 2, and I thought" now I know what to do with this 15lbs. of antler scraps." anyway I added coke can instead of the thicker stuff I usually use. all on cocobolo. I thought it would look plain so I just HAD to add the stripe of pick guard on the bottom. My wife says that is my biggest problem..."I don't know when to stop" says I always try to add to much to my pens. FOOOEY!! I say. what do you guys think. did the stripe really kill it??

I say it looks good.Since she says that is too much,next time do 4 stripes,start at the nib with a thin stripe and get bigger as you go up.

Hi Paul; If you really needed to add that stripe, why didn't you match it to the cap, and make it from the antler scraps?

According to Eagle`s advice to me, was " just because you can , does not make it right"

I think the antler needs a black band on top and bottom to transition it to the wood and nothing on the lower barrel at all.

I guess my reaction is that the white stripe makes the pen look too long. Of course, that could be the photograph. I wondwer if it would have looked different if the stripe had been close to the centerband.

In any case, it's a nice pen, regardless.
