Hi all,

Any recommendations for kits that have narrow tubes compared with the finished outside diameter? I've been working with transluscent blanks recently and would like to show off more than a thin slice of the material.

As does the Celtic. I always paint the tubes and color the epoxy with acrylic blanks, unless I'm 100% certain the blank is opaque. Sometimes I "back paint" the hole in the blank with especially translucent blanks.

The "Le Roi" Sierra-style kit at Exotic Blanks is marketed as having "more 'meat' on the barrel when you turn it resulting in fewer blowouts as you turn near the bushings". Better for casting objects around the tube too, I imagine.

Most with 8mm or 23/64 tubes. that accept a Parker refill (naturally "Cigars" and the like). I, too, prefer heavier walls.

Unless the blank is 100% opaque, I still paint barrels and tubes (then use epoxy).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I will have to try some of those.

I've been back painting and coloring the epoxy for my transluscent pens. I actually really like the way they're turning out, but I'd like to see what they look like with more "meat" on the barrel as hokie said.

Here's one on a baron kit if anyone's interested :) Excuse the bad photo.
