Kitless in custom alumilite

Since demonstrator (transparent) pens are super popular with the fountain pen crowd I run with, I often pour a lot of transparent blanks. This is one I did a while back, but hadn't gotten around to using. It's a teal matrix, with swirls of metallic blue resin dispersed throughout. I made the clip and trim from stainless steel, and the nib is a jowo #6. It's around 5.25" long when capped, and posts for those who have large hands.

I've been looking for transparent alumilite blanks, but they seem non-existent in the online stores I frequent.

Question: I notice that the band on your cap appears raised above the surface. I think this looks quite nice, but I'm wondering is this is a common feature of bands? It's often hard for me to tell from photos if this is typical, or if most pens have bands that are flush with the pen's surface.

I like the band on the section, it probably gives the pen a little bit of extra weight. Is that raised or flush?

Raised bands are pretty common on pens. I like it because it adds some dimension. Section band is flush, and the weight is negligible. There is maybe half a mm wall thickness.
