Don't know if it's age appropriate but Wood magazine has construction machinery like a bulldozer plans. They also have military vehicles.

Does your nephew like to draw ?
My granddaughters do, so I made them sketch pencils with really fat leads ... about 5 mm or so thick, which are available in colors and black.
They seem to be a hit. . But the kid needs to have some manual dexterity to change the leads without breaking them
I used the Berea Woodworker's Pencil (CBP-1206) which I like better than the kit that has "sketch" in the name.
This one has no clip, which is a plus IMO. . I make it without a centerband also ... just a little mod that improves appearance.

One toy from China that I am borrowing and tweaking is a learning toy and easy to make. You can make any size you want. Make any colors you want, make any amount of pieces you want, make any shape you want. It is a memory toy. I do not sell them. Just made for nephews.
