Today just wasn't meant to have anything to do with pens. First this morning, my engraver misread when the two pens I dropped off last week were needed. She thought it read the 17th, not the 11th, so she had to do a rush on them.
Second, I have an order for a computer circuit board stylus pen and for a laser cut gear pen. Ordered both last week. Finished turning the CB blank and went to assemble it and saw a nice crack on the end. Had to order another. Then went to work on the Gear pen. I had assembled the gears and glued the blank to the tube yesterday. I started turning the Gear pen. Guess what. It blew up on me on what appeared to be a small crack in the base blank (probably where a cut was made that didn't get enough CA). Had to reorder that blank as well. :mad::mad::mad:
Guess I'll shut down the shop for the rest of the day and try again this next weekend.

Monty it has something to do with Pearland I think. Been having a time of it lately as well. Guess we all have those days, weekends, weeks, months.....

beer and brownies you say? interesting.

If you turn long enough you are going to have days like that. As long as those days are few and far between we keep going. Tomorrow is a new day just give it heck then.

When those things start happening, it's time to shut the shop up & just come back another day!

Yeah, I'm a little weird that way. It's the chocolate in the brownies and I love beer and chocolate.

Wish I could get back in the shop tomorrow, but I have to work 7:30A-5:30P tomorrow through Friday. My replacement blanks should be here by then and I can try again Saturday.
 
Monty I can possibly fix the circuit board, I've had success at fixing those. Not sure about the Gear one would have to see it.

Sorry to hear your day turning went so wrong. I sure hope the next batch go better. I've hsd chocolate and wine but not chocolate and beer but I think I will.

Thanks for the offer. I too have had limited success at repairing the CB blanks. It was just quicker to order another to get the SO out this next weekend. As for the Gear blank, it's a lost cause unless I can find the rest of the pieces. I was only able to find one piece that blew off. I may look again this weekend.

Well mate, everyone gets those kind of days, not that is any solution to your problem but, once upon a time, what I had a day like that, I would close shop, grab the fishing rod and go fishing, where I am now, I don't have that luxury and I found something else that relaxes me and that is, grab a nice looking log or chunk of wood, go to the bandsaw and slice it all up, it works for me...!:wink::biggrin:

Some days are just mongrels...!:mad:

The sun will shine again tomorrow...!:wink::biggrin:
