My sister in law is having her first child next month so I made this as a gift for her. I'll have my wife take it when she goes to visit. This is the first one I made that I feel is close to my personal standard. I finished with mercury flex, micro mesh, an diamond paste at 30,000 and 80,000. I used offcut blanks for the segmented pieces

Very nice segmenting. Actually... awesome work after just starting turning a few weeks ago - Well done. 👏 👏 👏
Thanks, I wanted to do something nicer than a straight pink pen. Spent 2 evenings trying to get everything perfect with a lot of caliper use. It was pretty ugly before I turned it and pretty crooked on the glue up. Im glad I started doing this as it satisfying to see the end result

Many, many of my segmented blanks were butt ugly before turning. Don't judge a segmented blank by it's cover - that ends on the shop floor. 🤣 🤣 🤣
