So if your are looking to make some darts here are some of my pointers.

1. Have a micrometer available to get sizing right.
2. Get more lead weight because they do not provide nearly enough. (go to your local tire store and they'll have some extra lead wheel weights you can cut into tiny pieces)
3. Lock-Tight the threads of the point and tail as they tend to come loose.
4. I used a bolt to compress the lead weight in the nose of the dart.

Just a word of caution ...

Cutting lead on a saw can put dangerous lead dust in the air and thence into your lungs.
Cut with a knife.
Better yet, buy some air gun pellets and use them.

I like split shot fishing weights for ballast. They come in many sizes and are soft. Wheel weights are an alloy designed to be hard.

I used a pair of wire cutters to make tiny pieces before compressing them with a bolt in the tube. I also used tape weights which are a lot softer than your usual clip on weights.

I'm going to try some one of these days but I can cheat too... I make jacketed bullets and have swaging equipment and plenty of lead wire. Accuracy to .1 grain is no problem!

Now... getting the bodies all the same... that's where I doubt my ability. :frown:
