Jr. Imperial Rotacrylic

This is a Jr. Imperial rollerball pen, in chrome and gold, from Exotic Blanks. It's my first, and is one of the prettiest pens I've ever made. I love all the details, especially the gold stripes on the clip. The blank is a Rotacrylic, called Lime Hummer, also from EB. I made this in honor of my granddaughter, who was born on the 24th. Her name is Kolibri, which means hummingbird in both German and Russian. When I saw the blank, I had to order one! Made a gorgeous pen, if I do say so myself.

It says "The key to success is to drill down the center of the blanks!!" So I decided to drill them on the lathe. And I didn't know if it was completely necessary, but I went ahead and painted the blanks and tubes, and colored the epoxy.

Yes, I always plug the tubes. I've used modeling clay, Play-Doh, and even potato. I used to use dental base wax, but it's thin and gets hard. I tried beeswax, but it was too hard. Haven't tried paraffin. I drill it out with an appropriately size dill bit after the epoxy sets.
