Finally got around to rescaling this old, early to mid 1800's Joseph Elliot 9/8ths razor.Blade is fine the way it is with a little light patina,so I left it alone.Original scales were eaten away and cracked, made from black horn.I used horn to rescale it and sanded through 800 grit.Left them like that instead of sanding and polishing to a high shine, because I think it pairs with the patinad blade better.Double pinned the bottom with cup washers, and used a large rosette type washer for the pivot.

I have my grandfather's razor, it has yellow bone scales on it... would never try to use it though, first I don't know if I could ever get it sharp enough to shave with, and if I did likely would cut my own throat.
