so, i've got an opportunity to get an 'older' central machinery (harbor freight) jointer for $35. it's a standalone and the fence still works, still has decent knives on it (it's barely been used). i thought i remembered somebody here that had/has a HF jointer that has been humming along for a while?

i know the whole HF mantra that you get what you pay for, but $35 and I certainly can't afford a new one of any quality... whaddya think, deal or no deal (i can't believe i just typed that)?

You might have to do a little shimming and tuneing to get it dialed in just right, but for $35 I'd do a little shimming and tuning alright.

From the couple people I know who have them, the hardest part is getting the beds co-planar. Which isn't really difficult, just time consuming (check, adjust, check, adjust, ad naseum). Have fun.
