I'm wanting to get a bench jointer. I would love a full size model but I'm kinda limited on space. I've considered the Grizzly but don't know of any reviews on it and have thought about the Craftsman. The Delta is out of the question. I checked it out at Lowes and the fence flexes terribly and it doesn't have very good reviews. I'm open to any and all suggestions and words of experience.

Thanks,
Steve

My first jointer was a bench top from Ryobi - get a full size one if you can!!
I bought one from HF (exact clone of the Delta JT 360) and it came with a stand and I believe it was under $200. I use a Delta manual for it, the one that came with the HF jointer was crap. The first one the shipped had fallen down in the truck and the packaging was all broken, so I sent it back!! The next they sent came a week later and was perfect - right on out of the box.

Steve,

IIWY, I'd look for a used floor model with minumum 6" wide cutters; they're plentiful and
don't really take up that much more space than a benchtop. Make sure to get cast iron infeed and
outfeed tables and avoid the old craftsman two-knife square cutter head model.

If you look on craigslist and http://www.woodnet.net, you'll probably find one for a great value.
A guy I know near Hudson, FL has two nearly new 6" jointers for sale at around $250.00 each.

Gary....If Hudson wasn't so far away I'd inquire about one of the jointers. I'd rather have a floor model too. Might be able to squeeze it in some where.[;)]

Thanks,

The model number is 37-190. As a matter of fact, the Delta Deluxe Jointer, at that time I bought the HF, had the same model number: Delta 37-190. They could come from the same factory, just different paint job. So far, it has performed flawless - although I use a jointer maybe 1-2 times a year now. Used to use it frequently, but this was before I started turning.....
