Not trying to start a debate on sharpeners here. Just curious from the after purchase jet sharpeners experience. Just thought since they have all been out there for a little bit now people would have a better opinion on them instead of when first purchased.

Do you now regret your purchase and wish you would have gone a different direction? Does it do what you thought would do for you? What jigs did you get and which ones were a waste of money? Anything else you wish to add about it such as problems ect..?

We have had the Jet in use for about four months now. I have no regrets and would buy it again if I needed one. The edge I get on our tools does not even compare to what the high speed grinder did. Not to mention the tools are not ate up as quick. We bought Tormek jigs to use with the Jet. The gouge jig is by far superior.
We also use the Tormek skew jig. When we bought the jet it came with the drawer base, diamond truer and grader stone. The Jet add ons that we have bought are the profile leather strop, and the large tool rest. The profile strop is a must if you use a fingernail or bowl gouge, IMHO. The large tool rest is great for sharpening the Lacer skew. Since getting that skew I can go from the lathe to the Jet, couple quick taps on the wheel and back to the lathe in a matter of 20 seconds. It is a big help when doing blanks of Eagles.

The only real complaint I would have is the leather wheels are a pain in the rear to dress. They tell you this in the video and suggest using 3 in 1 oil to make dressing it easier. Still a pain in the rear. Get a cover for it!!!! Especially if you do the flat work Linda and I do. The other thing I recommend is getting a covered container to pour water into the reservoir. The one we have holds 64oz. and has a handle and spout. Well worth it as the water evaporates really quick and you have to add water until the stone stops absorbing it.

If you buy one, take the time and watch the video. If you buy the Tormek jigs get online and watch their videos as well.

I have no regrets at all... I bought when Amazon had the Jet on sale for $169, so I feel like I got a great deal too!

I really like how the skew comes out... really, really sharp.

The only thing I am having trouble with is the diamond truing jig... seems to just tickle the surface and not actually do anything, but I am hoping it is just operator error and I will figure it out...

I'm also looking at the Jet sharpener. I am also looking at the new Grizzly. Any body tried that one yet? Not trying to steal the thread, just adding options.

BTW Amazon is selling the Jet for $299 now.

We got the Grizzly and love it. It sits about 4 feet away from my lathe, and the ability to quickly touch up a tool in the middle of a project is great. I would buy it again in a second.

We went with the 'Woodturner's Sharpening Kit' from WoodCraft. It's an 8-inch slow speed grinder & Wolverine grinding jig. We added a fingernail jig and a skew jig.

Looking forward to it, as there is a large price difference between the Grizzly versus the Jet and Tormek.

Thank you ahead of time.

I own the tiger 2000 schepp I think is the brand. It is a made in germany alot cheaper than the jet and tormek and my tools have never been shaper. I got it on amazon. I may buy the tormek jigs for it but as of now I use the jigs made by the same company.

Yes there is a considerable price difference. The base units prices are
Tormek @ $499.
Jet @ $299.
Grizzly @ $169.

Then you have all the jigs on top of that. We are going to try the Grizzly jigs, but we know that me will probably have to get at least some of the Tormek jigs.
