So my tail stock was slipping a little bit and I heard all the talk about the square washer from JohnnyCNC, so I ordered one. The only problem is that there are no threads on new "nut" from Johnny and the threads from the "bolt" of the tail stock are not long enough to extend past new washer and put a nut on. So what do I do? Can I replace the bolt or anything to make it longer? I've had to go back to my round "nut" until I can figure out how to use the square one from JohnnyCNC...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

It may be that Jet used a short bolt. The bolt on my 1220 was so short that it could not be threaded all the way into the nylok nut even with the stock washer. This ultimately led to the bolt stripping.

I ended up making a new bolt out of 3/4" 304 SS that was just a bit longer

I replaced my washer also. I don't remember replacing the bolt but if I did I just took my existing bolt to Home Depot to get the right diameter and thread size and bought a longer one.

Mike, ..if you will email me, I should be able to take care of this for you
if you don't come up with a solution on your own.
Or I'll take it back if you prefer.

Thanks Johnny! I don't want to send it back, but if you have any ideas, I'd appreciate it. I'll shoot you a PM...

Thanks again!

Mike
