I was looking at a jet mini variable speed today and didn't realize that you have 3 ranges of speeds depending on the belt. I can see keeping it on the middle belt between 1200 and 2600 for pens. The only problem is I am guessing you have to change the belt back and forth for CA finish. I have an older variable speed now with a reeves drive and don't have to change pulleys to go from lowest speed to apply ca, eventually going to the highest speed to buff the finish. Do you mini owners have to change the belt to apply ca or are you able to stay on a speed range for turning and finishing.(This probably sounds lazy but it's hard to buy something new that might actually cause me more time.)

Paul,
I have the Jet mini VS. I do CA finishes on most woods. I do all of my turning on the middle pulley and switch to the outside pulleys for applying CA. It's really no big thing to change. It only takes me a few seconds to do so. I don't use the fastest speeds, they are just too fast for me. I am comfortable on the middle for turning.

I have the Jet mini and I use the middle pulley almost excusively for turning and applying CA. Rarely do I go to the outside ones. On the middle I turn it up high to turn and all the way down to apply CA.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I use the high speed range for all my turnings, just lower the speed for CA finishing. The only time I change pulleys to use the lower range is when I'm drilling blanks
