Jet mini motor problems?

Any one had problems with their non VS Jet mini? We had 2 go out last weekend at a Freedom Pen TOT. Another had the bearings in the HS spindle get to hot to touch the casting.

After testing one of them at my shop it looks to me like one of the field windings opened. Starts ok, speed is ok but no power, I can stop it easily with my hand on the wheel at any belt position.

Talking to one of the Jet dealers here I was told they had 6 returned with bad motors in the last month.[?]

The other thing that goes wrong with those motors is the start capacitor; but the symptoms are entirely different from what you describe.

Great, mines 3 months old. No problems yet. Only about 40 hours on it so far.
