Jet Mini lathe retrofit

I just got throug E-bay a variable speed retrofit kit for my mini lathe, do any of you had any experience with it? I am wondering( after the fact I allready purchased it ) if its worthwhile going through the trouble of replacing it.

I cant see where it should be that hard to do the switch. That being said, I love my 1014VS. The ability to change speeds with the turn of a knob is very handy when doing finishing work. I have no regrets buying the VS. The extra $100 was well worth it as far as I'm concerned.
Just my 2 cents.
