A friend of mine gave me this lathe. It's in relatively good shape considering it sat out in a metal shed un-oiled and un-covered in the Pacific NW for many years before it was given to my friend who isn't able to make use of it.
It came with all the standard OEM pieces and a few extras. I'm in the process of cleaning the rust from it, the worst being the ways but even that is turning out to be just surface rust with no pitting. The carriage I cleaned the rust off, greased and oiled yesterday. The ways I'll finish this week and then the gear train will get disassembled, cleaned and lubed. I did test run it in neutral to make sure the motor works and it does. The gear train runs smooth and has no run-out on the head-stock but I will clean and lube everything before attempting to use it. It doesn't appear as though this lathe has ever cut metal in it's life. Most of the parts that came with it still has cosmolene on them.
For the rust I'm scraping the heavy rust off with single edge razor blades in a blade holder and that is working great without scratching the metal and then WD-40 and brown scotch-brite pads. So far after cleaning just left with minor staining and moving parts run smooth.

A really great score! I have to do something really nice for my friend and his wife. I've already made them some pens so I think I'll make them a really nice end grain cutting board as a thank you.

I made quite a bit of progress on cleaning the rust off of the lathe and the carriage. I soaked the lathe in WD-40, then scrapped the rust with single edge razor blades and finished with WD-40 and scotch brite pads. I have no pitting on any of the machined surfaces. I disassembled the carriages and tail stock then did the same thing to them. Last night I cleaned and lubed the 3 & 4 jaw chucks. I then lubed re-assembled all the parts. Every thing now works smoothly. I'm in the process of cleaning the gear train and lubing all that up. I only have one part to replace and that's the main drive cog belt. I should have that in by next week end and hope to have it up and running. I plan to paint the inside of the drip pan white to make it easier to find things when I drop them.
