Jet 1014VS Motor Upgrade?

I am beginning to think that the motor on my 1014VS is going out on me, and that got me to thinking. Does anyone know if you can upgrade the motor on the 1014VS to a 3/4 HP motor (say by replacing it with the motor from the new 1220)? Would the upgrade also include changing out the control board as well?

I'm not wanting to start a discussion of troubleshooting my motor, as that has taken place numerous times, and I will be following advice in those threads to better diagnose my problem. But it got me to thinking about what it would take to upgrade the motor.

Why not just sell that lathe and buy the 1220vs??? cost would be close and you would then have the added extra room.

I'd scrap out the old motor and plug in a Briggs and Straton. You could run the throttle cable right up to the side of the lathe, or you can go with a more traditional foot pedal. :biggrin:
