JB Weld for cast iron

I am looking for some thing like JB weld to repair cast iron, cam some one point to the correct item please.

What is the item that is made of cast iron? Cast iron pipe? Cast iron skillet? Something else?

I agree we need to know the extent of use. Is this for a patch, a break fix?? Is this item going to have stress on it. Sometimes there is just the replacing factor.

It's will be used on a vice, a piece has broken off just above one of the screw hole that holds the jaws.

JB Weld 8281 will work.

I save this Australian made from going to the dump, I remove the jaws before I took the photo.
Apart from the obvious butchering around the jaws the rest of it is in good condition.

Or you could cut and drill another piece of steel and replace the jaw. Depends on how you plan to use it. Repaired should work for wood.

Dan the chipped out thread is in the vise casting. Can't replace that part.

I would attempt to braze the broken piece back on the jaw. Or just braze it shut and then drill and tap it.

Sorry, looked like a removable jaw to me. I had a friend that repaired the head of his outboard boat motor with JB Weld next to the spark plug threads, lasted several years. Should work behind the jaws, all the load is in compression to the body. I was concerned it woas the face of the jaws taking direct load.
