As many of you know, I had my Military Retirement Ceremony the end of August. I had a lot of Vacation (Leave) saved up and have been enjoying being on Terminal Leave.

That all runs out tonight at Midnight! As of tonight, I am no longer on active duty.... Bitter sweet feeling for me. I have been in the Navy since 16 SEP 1985. That's 28yrs 2mo 15days of service.

Tina and I have decided that we are going to give our business a boost. We are going full time into the business making blanks and molds. We'll see how it goes for a while. I have been working so many more hours a day building the business that I ever was before.

I guess what everyone told me is true....you will be busier after retirement than you were when working. They were right! I don't know how retired people get anything done!!!

Congratulations. Welcome to the club. Thank you for your service. My wife and I are both retired Air Force.

Checking out your site now. Looks really good. I've been toying with the idea of making my own blanks but I'm not sure. It's all new and without knowing anyone close by that could be a mentor to me on this topic is a little scary.

Congratulations!

Be glad you have your business to turn to. When I retired 2 years ago, the first 8 months were pure hell, but now I am so danged busy there are few days that I am not in some kind of a meeting or another. Now I'm complaining that I have way to much to do and not enough time to spend in the shop....but I'm working on changing that a little bit anyway.

Anyway, don't get too busy, and remember to stop and smell the roses with your bride on a regular basis. Your life will be wonderful because it's now yours!

Jim,

Look for a local chapter. Even a wood turning chapter. Lots of times they will have someone that has at least played around with casting.....

Good Luck!

Way to go! Saw your ad in WC magazine!

Thanks Brian! We ventured into an unknown with that but it seems to have had some paybacks.... Time will tell us if it was worth the AD price.

Congrats and thank you Fred! The hardest part now to learn how to decompress, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Trade in the aye aye for why why, I can do it later.
Cheers

You can do that to some extent.....except when a customer is looking for their custom pen blank that you promised them.

The last week has been crazy to say the least!!

Thanks for your service Fred. Congrats on retirement. Be glad you have a hobby/business. So many folks retire and with nothing to keep their interest they don't last long. You do have plenty to do. Keep up the good works.

Enjoy yourself Fred. I retired in 84 and can't believe how fast the time has gone. Do all the things that you always wanted to do as you will soon be saying I cant believe I've been retired 10/20/30 yrs already.

Thanks for your service.

Congratulations, Fred. I 'retired' 25 years ago in September. Time flies when you're having fun. Oh, and about that retirement thing ... your designator now ends in a 9 which means they still have a grip for a while.:biggrin:
