Count down has started... I'm 11 days from retiring from the Air Force.

I had my lathe for about 2 months after my deployment then it was packed up and shipped to league city.

I took the wife home Jul 11th so she could get her job started, get the boy child in school, and just work things out for our house hunt. I drove from ga to Houston on the 11th, the 12th we looked at 15 houses (Gale Backe is an amazing realtor if anyone is looking in the harris/Galveston county area) we started at 830 in the morning and at 9pm we had a contract in.

Over the last couple of months I have been wrapping up stuff here in Ga. Moving out of the house, taking care of some last minute details around and what not.

I have to say, I have a very strong wife. The last month has been HELL for her. Fighting with new set ups for phone and tv and what not, appliances going out after being in storage for 2 months, and the final straw was Sunday night when the AC went out. She had a mini break down. But all is better now.

When she left in Jul, I had 2 portfolios full on pens and razors, now I have 3 pens and 2 razors so its time to refill. so I have been back into search mode. I see Mr. Smith has opened back up and I already have a wish list started. I have been looking around Exotic Blanks for my wants from there also. These are my two favorite shops to get from. So expect to see me around a little more now that I am back in the saddle, and have an active internet connection.

Your wife lost the AC in Houston? Not a good location to not have it.
Moving is tough. I just moved from Houston to Michigan so I know the feeling. It does get better though.

Dan,

I don't think I will ever get that. Name, maybe, but the date will always be dd/month/yr I think. We will see how it goes...

I cant wait for it. Thanks to all of you and the ideas you all gave me while I was deployed getting ready to get out has become just a little less stressful.

Short timer

Well Mike, when I served. The guys who were getting out usually started their count down a good 6 weeks in advance...used to make "short timer chains" and pick one ball off every day ....

Allan,
Yup, the first day wasn't horrible but the last 2 days the house was 90+ degrees. She called me when it got repaired and was very excited. Thank God we have a portable AC that she put in the bedroom so she could sleep. That was a life saver for her.

So 9 days and a Wake up. Outstanding.
I am sure you know this but just in case you didn't. Take your DD214 down to your county clerks office so they can register it. so if any time you need a legal copy. They will have one available to print off for you.
And like everyone else. Thanks for serving.
