Lucky I had my face shield on.
My beautiful fiddleback Black Wattle decided that it would no longer participate in the turning process.:mad::mad:
I had it rough turned and had repaired all the splits on the outside. It went a bit out of round so my logic????? told me to turn it round again and then I would have a thinner wall to repair from the inside. Well! it sounded good to me.
When my wife heard the thump and no follow up swearing, she thought that she had better come out and see if I was still on my feet. Luckily the only damage was a BIG whack on the shield and everything else missed.
Makes the little piece I cored out VERY expensive, and I was going to have a skite to Ed Street about how nice it was. OH WELL!!!!!
Do you think I should/could glue it back together??????
Cheers
Bob.

I just couldn't throw the pieces out, so spent days glueing and repairing, put the piece on the lathe this afternoon with a strong metal clamp around the outside to support everything. I re-cut the inside and all of the outside except the 1in strip where the clamp was. Then I moved the clamp further towards the base and started on the final bit. It is now in the bin. Shattered again, BUGGER.
Now I will never know if was as good as Edstreets Amboyna Burl WIP.

Cheers Bob.

On the other hand, he can't prove that it wasn't better.

Glad you had your "face" on Bob:wink:!! Maybe you can slice it up and segment it for a pen? Stay out of the way next time!!

That's why I stopped turning bowls and started turning pens! ..... They still explode occasionally but at least they are smaller pieces to duck from!
