This past weekend was awesome!

Friday:

My little girl took her first steps! Now she's almost running through the house . She's also become a little monkey climbing on anything and everything possible.

Saturday:

We spent the day at a friend and fellow turners house. Tyson (Jyreene) and I got to spend a good chunk of the day out in the shop messing around and turning. Our wives have quickly become friends as well so they got to hang out. Plus our daughter and their 3 boys are all in the same age group and have all become quick friends. So they spent the day playing and raising all kinds of heck.

Sunday:
This was mainly a chill day, but my wife and I got to watch our little girl learn all new things. I did go out in the shop and do some work, but that was during nap times.

I'm a proud Daddy!

Oh! Plus I sold 3 custom FP's and am in discussions with those same buyers for more custom work!

Congrats on a great weekend! Kids change our lives so much, it is hard to conceive of our lives without them once they arrive. Personal and professional success at the same time is awesome.

Sounds like a perfect weekend! They sure know how to make even the worst day the best. They grow way too fast, enjoy it all.

Sounds good. Now is the time to child proof your house. Get down on your knees and look around the house so that you can see what and where she can get into trouble. Then make sure that those areas are secure.

Thanks everyone!

No worries Cindy. We've had the house baby proof for a while now. She might have just taken her first unassisted steps, but she's been walking through the house for months using all the furniture and toys as helpers.

Oh, it's so cute that you're excited about this.
I too was excited about this stage in Lily's life.
Hold on, she climbed the entertainment center and I have to get her... brb

ok whew. Sorry for the delay. As I was picking up all the things she knocked over on her way to the top of the TV, she went into the kitchen, removed everything from the cabinet, threw it on the floor and was trying to stuff the cat into the top shelf with her.
Ugh, one more second, she figured out she can walk across the back of the couch and get to the window...

Sorry again, she climbed onto the couch, then pushed out the screen window and scaled the outside of the house and tried to make a run for it. Luckily my neighbors fence was a little too tall for her. She tried to pull off one of the planks and squeeze through, but I caught her in time. I'm not even sure where she got that hammer from, or how she knew how to use it like that.
I should probably invest in a cage for her.

Seriously though, happy for you guys Brooksy! It's a huge moment and it's just one more in a LONG list of them! Be weary though, this is also the time she gets better at being mobile, which means you have to chase her more ;)

Our kids are 12,10 & 7. Lately we have been cleaning up our basement (which means all of our junk has been piled in my workshop for weeks making it impossible to do any turning). Our daughter is finding all of these boxes of "super cool" stuff! We've have told her that, yes, we used to have all of this neat stuff around the house BEFORE you became mobile and started to pull everything off of every table or shelf. So, now, 11+ years later, we are starting to get some of it back out.

Yes, it is neat stuff, but I wouldn't trade it for any of the time with them as they are growing up. It goes by quickly.
