Have to say, just got back into the shop last week and man it feels so good to once again get creative and start resupplying my scrollsawn work for my up coming shows in the winter. It has been over 2 years since I was able to do this because of health reasons and family reasons and finally selling of my Mom's home. I can take my mind off the past events with my Mom passing this Jan. It has been a long hard road traveled but I am back where I feel the most comfortable. I have not lost my touch behind the scroll saw which is a good thing. The eyes are not the same but with the help of glasses and a magnifying light I can still get it done. :smile::smile:

What does this mean as far as my pen turning goes, that remains to be seen. I am hoping sometime in Jan of next year I can once again focus on some new designs and try out some of my ideas that I have been thinking about. Hopefully I may even get some projects done in time for the next Bash contests. Would like to go up against some of you folks head to head. Barring no setbacks or other life intrusions:smile: I can continue and be at peace in the one place I feel good. Hopefully I will also be able to share some of these things with this family too.

It is good when one can get back to doing something they enjoy and have missed. Sometimes life takes us on detours, some of it enjoyable, some not. I am interested in seeing some of your scroll saw work.

I have a DeWalt that LOML and daughter bought for me last year. I have done a few things since getting it. I used to make some things when I was overseas and had an old Sears vibrating scroll saw. I like the DeWalt, but I'm just not into the scrollsawing yet. I have ideas but that is all they are.

DO You have a scroll saw forum that you frequent and post to?
 
Yeah I know the feeling, things keep you from going to the shop. It is kind of funny you don't go to the shop in a long time, get out there. Then miscut a blank, blow one up, CA your fingers together, and for some reason it does not seem that bad.
 
It's great to hear you are back in the shop! I hope this doesn't mean you will spend all your time in the shop and not do as much posting here. I enjoy reading your posts!

Hello Hank. I use to be very active in many scrolling sites but over the years I have drifted away from them. I still check in on a few. Do not post. There are those that would still remember me though.

The Dewalt saw is a very good saw. I have that one and a few others. I have all professional saws because what I do is a business for me. It use to be a bigger part of my life but had to pull out of many consignment stores and now do way less craft shows. I know you have been away from this site for a few years and by the way welcome back and great seeing you post again. Your insights were missed. Over the years I have scattered photos of my work throughout this site for various reasons. I do not want to bore people with seeing them. I love doing clocks so that is in my theme of many things I make. I use patterns available to the public and also create some of my own ideas. I also combine these 2 things. I work with all hardwoods, mainly red oak, my favorite wood. I scroll in different mediums such as woods plastics and metals. Have been doing this for over 30 years and still have a passion for it.

Jim thanks. I am not going anywhere. It was this site that really kept me from going insane and kept my desire to create projects going. It was here that many of you kept encouraging me and challenging me to get in the shop and produce something. My friend Skiprat who I miss on here ( I hope things are OK with him) use to egg me on all the time. It was just some hard times that kept me away. I am at peace now and hopefully have a few good years left to create some work.

Hello Cody. I have yet to put some new ideas into action but am trying to recoup some of my all time best sellers for the craft show season. I do not do many shows any more but the ones I do there are always a few items that just continue to stay popular and I do well with. being unable to work in the shop for over 2 years it has depleted my inventory so I am trying to make a few of the items just to get them back out in public again. I will show you some of these in a few photos. These are past photos but I still make most of the items seen. Getting a web site up is something I wanted to do for years but have not been able to complete it. Maybe some day. As I mentioned above I have at times scattered photos of my work throughout this site over the years. Just do not want to bore people with these. I do know pens are the theme here.:smile::smile: Thanks all for the kind words.


















 
Upon viewing pics of your work, I can understand your desire to get back to it.Very nice work. You are an accomplished artisan, for sure. I hope you remain able to continue this for a long, long time! :smile:
