My Lathe finally arrived from http://timberlinetools.com/ It has taken a few weeks to get here because of a miscommunication between two of there stores. I ordered the lathe at the January 1st. There was a mix up on which of the stores it shipped out of. The two guys I worked with Jeff and Levi were real helpful in taking care of the situation. When they realized it hadn’t shipped Jeff offered to refund my money or to ship me the non Variable Speed JET 1014 Lathe and refund me the difference since my order didn’t get shipped and they were out of stock. I chose to wait and Jeff contacted JET to have one drop shipped to my house. It turns out that the lathe was on back order with JET and would take two weeks to be delivered. I chose to wait even though I am anxious to get started pen turning.
The main reason for waiting is http://timberlinetools.com/ offers the JET Mini 1014vs for $339.15 + $1 for shipping. Minus the $25 rebate from JET that makes the JET 1014vs a bargain for $315.15
This weekend I plan on setting the lathe up in the shop and cleaning it and getting it ready to start turning. I just need to order a mandrel, blanks, kits and finishing supplies and I should be turning my first pen by the end of next week.
