Being that it is the ornament turning time of year, I turned an ornament....only one ornament. This one is special in that it is a collaboration between my wifey, Robin and I.

I turned the ornament/finials and after Robin drew the holly leaf design, I pierced the leaf openings.
She added the pyrography and coloring ( India inks and acrylic paints) to compliment the turning.

Ornament is hard maple with African Blackwood finials. Finish is a combination of satin lacquer and Beall buffing.
Overall ornament height with finials is 10".
Base is elm with a crepe myrtle branch.

Stunning artistry folks. Looks like a museum piece to me! The quality of the turning/piercing equals the art.

Simply beautiful.

Wowza!! I'd almost be afraid to put that on a tree, the finials are so delicate. Given how beautiful it is though, I'd also be afraid to NOT put it on display.
