I Have never liked working with acrylic, because It seems to give me a migraine when I turn it.

a friend of mine said that she likes the way the Lucite looks in the pictures, and that she would like to have one:)

My question is .... Is it the same as Acrylic, just a fancy name for it?
Is "Lucite the name of the manufacturer?

Thanks

Lucite is just one of many brand names for acrylic.

Acrylic, lucite, plexiglass, perspex (etc...) are all the same.

The only brand of plastic windows that is actually a different plastic is lexan (which is polycarbonate as opposed to polyacrylate).

Thanks everyone.

Even Though I don't like turning Acrylic, I will still give Lucite a try.

It will be worth it for my lady Friend.

Thanks

If you want to know more, search wikipedia for lucite or PMMA.

Lucite is just one brand of PMMA, and different brands may have slightly differenty formulations, but that are chemically very similar.

The term Acrylic is sometimes used generically and may refer to compounds other than PMMA, so could be chemically completely different. For example, Polyester Resin is not the same as PMMA, but is sometines referred to as an acrylic blank.
