system to turn rope style pens?
I was out in Ohio again and I saw a Legacy Wood working System. The cost was $275.00? plus I would of had to buy a Router & etc. Are the pen nice when they are done? What about sanding and finishing in the spirals? I belive Pen works does pens like this.

It all depends on your market. As much as they look cool and unique, I actually don't see myself using a rope pen. I don't think it will feel nice. But again, if it sells...that is all that matters [;)]

Only you can answer that one [?] If you buy it new, you will end up with 400-600 $$ in it before you start to produce anything, between the router, bits and misc supplies.

If you sell 6 $100.00 pens, you have recouped your costs and ready to start profit taking. If you don't use it, it still makes a nice RED paper weight. [:D]

I bought the Model 900 to make one style of pen, will have about $2,000 in this machine before I start, is it worth it [?] Must be, I bought it, if I sell 10 $200 pens, it's paid for. [:p]

Good luck with your decission.

Oh, part two of your question.......
You will spend more time sanding the pen, than cutting the spirals. [xx(]
I spend 75% of my time sanding & finishing these pens, than actually cutting them.

Russ,

You and I must share the same dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, Anthony, HE SELLS PENS!!!!

We can only aspire to his level[8D][8D][8D] Sunglasses necessary in AZ.

It's just sales psychology, surround your $200 pens by $500-$800 pens by Visconti, Stipula etc. and your pens become a great value. Surround the same pens by $25-$50 pens and now your pens are out of reachand over priced.

Plus, if someone see's a twist rope pen, it's not like he can surf the web and find a simular pen. vs if he were looking at my cigar pen and the 10,000 out there for sale and comparing them.
