I had a potential customer message me today asking if I knew any pens that could be modified to take a Uni SXR-600 ink ballpoint refill. I did some research (I asked AI, who was really hallucinating and said that the refill was compatible with parker style ballpoint refills. It's not. To test this refill with various pens, I needed to order one. I accidentally ordered red instead of black.
You can see from the pic below that the refill is more likely compatible with a free pen you get at a bank or a realtor. The red refill in the pic is the UNI. The clear refill is from a pen I got from my Ophthalmologist last year after my cataract surgery. The clear refill and the UNI both have a 3mm OD. The uni is about 1/2" shorter than the eye doctor (easier than spelling Ophthalmologist) pen. I used a piece of WD40 spray tube (also 3mm OD) and some electrical tape to extend the length of the UNI refill to get close to the eye doctor pen. I also wrapped some electrical tape around the Uni refill, closer to the nib end, to give the spring something to bottom out on. This MacGyver set up actually worked, but I doubt it is what my potential customer is looking for.
So: does anyone know of any kit pens or commercially available pens that can take a Uni SXR-600 3mm x 3.4" long refill?
Thanks for any leads.
